Timeline of the belly!

Recently I have been looking back at what my belly looked like in the first few months and it is hard to believe that I really did not start to show until I was 6 months pregnant. Looking at the pictures I am feeling very lucky that I didn't start getting bigger until I was past 28 weeks. I thought that I would share with you all the progression of my belly.

Peyton's Nursery!!!!!

Brandon and I were very excited yesterday, because we got a phone call that our recliner was ready for pick-up. This was the last thing that we were waiting on to finish up Peyton's Nursery. Everything is in place and just waiting for her to get here. Of course there is still little details that we will be adding like pictures, but I wanted to let you all see how it has all come together with everything that we have planned so far.

Thanks Brett and Debbie for your help last weekend in making this nursery come together for us. Brandon and I love it and are always walking in there to take a look.

38 Weeks...Just waiting for our little package to arrive!

How Peyton's growing:
Your baby has really plumped up. She weighs about 6.8 pounds and she's over 19 1/2 inches long (like a leek). She has a firm grasp, which you'll soon be able to test when you hold her hand for the first time! Her organs have matured and are ready for life outside the womb.

Wondering what color your baby's eyes will be? You may not be able to tell right away. If she's born with brown eyes, they'll likely stay brown. If she's born with steel gray or dark blue eyes, they may stay gray or blue or turn green, hazel, or brown by the time she's 9 months old. That's because a child's irises (the colored part of the eye) may gain more pigment in the months after she's born, but they usually won't get "lighter" or more blue. (Green, hazel, and brown eyes have more pigment than gray or blue eyes.)

Update from the Doctor...

I went to my weekly check-up with the doctor to see if there was any change. There was a change and I am now dilated to 4cm and my cervix is still softening! Brandon was able to go to this appointment with me and we had lots of questions for the doctor.

Here is the Q & A with Dr. Roles:
Q: What size do you think this baby is?
A: "I would say that you have a good size baby in there around 8 pounds."

Q: Do we have any way of knowing if she will have a big head like her father did?
A: "We can get an idea about how big she will be off of how big (Kelly) was as a baby, but there is nothing that can tell us the size of her head."

Q: Now that I have changed from 3cm to 4cm, do you think that I will make it to my due date?
A: "This is just a guess, but I would say that you will have this baby within the next week or week in a half."

Brandon and I are very excited knowing that she could be here within the week or next week. Now the doctor could be wrong and she could hang out for a while and not be here until her due date, but we are ready for her whenever she decides to show up.

37 Weeks...3 weeks to go!

How Peyton's growing:
Congratulations — your baby is full term! This means that if your baby arrives now, her lungs should be fully mature and ready to adjust to life outside the womb, even though your due date is still three weeks away.

Your baby weighs 6 1/3 pounds and measures a bit over 19 inches, head to heel (like a stalk of Swiss chard). Many babies have a full head of hair at birth, with locks from 1/2 inch to 1 1/2 inches long. But don't be surprised if your baby's hair isn't the same color as yours. Dark-haired couples are sometimes thrown for a loop when their children come out as blonds or redheads, and fair-haired couples have been surprised by Elvis look-alikes. And then, of course, some babies sport only peach fuzz.

*Doctor's Appointment*
I went to the doctor on Monday and nothing has changed since my last visit. I am still 3cm dilated and that is a good thing because Brandon left with the baseball team to Utah and won't be back until Wednesday night. Brandon and I have both been a little worried, but I am feeling great and have had no contractions. I also found out the results of my Strep B test and they were negative. Everything is looking great and now all we can do is play the waiting game until she gets here. I'll have new belly pictures up soon, so check back later this week.

Nusery is getting so close to being complete...

I have been telling you about all the hard work that Brandon and I have been doing in the nursery, so I thought that I better show you some pictures to prove it. Brandon did a great job putting the crib and changing table together and I love that as soon as they went up we were able to make more room in the closet for more of Peyton's things. There is still more things coming, so as soon as we get them in I will have to take more updated pictures and I hope at that time we will have it all completed.

Here is Peyton's beautiful crib. I love her bedding and it looks great with the wall colors. Also you can see that I have her bag all packed and ready to go.


The matching changing table. We are still working on getting this all organized, so right now it is a great spot that I put things I am not sure where I am going to put them just yet. Brandon and I never saw what this would look like besides picture online and we were both very happy with how it looks in the nursery. It is the perfect size.


Full closet! Look at all those clothes already. When we get are other things done in the nursery the closet will look better and not so packed.


Thanks to my parents for coming out last weekend and helping me get more things together in the nursery. Dad you did a great job of touching up the paint and making it so I would not look at it and go crazy everytime I looked at it. Mom thanks for making trips around down and getting more of those last minute things done around the house. The nursery is looking better and better every time I walk in there. Thank you and we love you both.

Brett and Debbie are coming down this weekend for Drew's Birthday and I am so excited to have them see what we have been doing and I am sure that I will get lots more help and making sure that everything is ready for Miss Peyton.

36 Weeks...Count Down until Peyton arrives (4 weeks!)

How Peyton's growing:
Your baby is still packing on the pounds — at the rate of about an ounce a day. She now weighs almost 6 pounds (like a crenshaw melon) and is more than 18 1/2 inches long. She's shedding most of the downy covering of hair that covered her body as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that covered and protected her skin during her nine-month amniotic bath. Your baby swallows both of these substances, along with other secretions, resulting in a blackish mixture, called meconium, will form the contents of her first bowel movement.

At the end of this week, your baby will be considered full-term. (Full-term is 37 to 42 weeks; babies born before 37 weeks are pre-term and those born after 42 are post-term.) Most likely she's in a head-down position. But if she isn't, your practitioner may suggest scheduling an "external cephalic version," which is a fancy way of saying she'll try to coax your baby into a head-down position by manipulating her from the outside of your belly.

***Doctor's Appointment today***
I went to my doctors appointment today since I was unable to see the Dr. on Monday. I had my screening of Strep B, so I am hoping that I will not hear anything back from the doctor about it. I have been having headaches and I was glad that my blood pressure was good at 116/72. Peyton's heartbeat sounded good and very strong, so that was great to hear. I am dilated to 3cm and my cervix is starting to soften. Dr. Roles was unable to tell if Peyton was in the head down position, so I got to see her again today during the sonogram to find out. She is in the head down position and looking very healthy. I was able to see her heartbeat and she was breathing, so it was nice to see her lungs moving up and down. The doctor was also pleased to see this, because it means that she is very healthy and being head down we don't have to worry about having a C-Section. Really I am just glad that I was able to see her again, because it had been a long time since my last sonogram. We also talked and if I feel like we want to go ahead we can plan a date to be induced. We will just have to wait and see, because you never know at this point if she wants to come out tomorrow or in 4 weeks. Brandon and I have some thinking to do!

This is all very exciting and makes us a little bit more urgent in getting everything that we will need right at first together.
